ALBANY–Senior first baseman
Olivia Reeves belted a home run in each game, while junior second baseman
Marisa Bird and junior shortstop
Danielle Brusca pounded out three hits throughout the afternoon to allow The College of Saint Rose to gain a split with visiting Post University this afternoon.
The Eagles (9-10) won the opener 4-1, but the Golden Knights (5-8) answered with a 6-2 triumph in the nightcap.
Saint Rose rallied from a 2-1 deficit by pushing across four runs in the fourth inning of the finale. Bird smacked a leadoff double and scored on a base hit by sophomore catcher
Alexis Williams to tie the ballgame. An RBI single by Brusca and a two-run base hit off the bat of sophomore right fielder
Zoe Dubois then put Saint Rose in control.
On the mound, junior right-hander
Anna Carey scattered seven hits and fanned seven throughout the distance to pick up her first win of the spring.
Brusca and Bird had two hits each in the opener when Post scored three times throughout the final two innings to secure the win.
Looking ahead, both teams return to
Cathy Cummings Haker Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex tomorrow. The Golden Knights host
Northeast-10 Conference and
Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne for a 3:00 pm twin-bill, while the Eagles have a CACC doubleheader at Caldwell College in New Jersey.
