GOLDEN KNIGHTS HOST POST UNIVERSITY FOR 2014 HOME OPENER

The Golden Knights take on Post University in their 2014 home opener this afternoon.

Last Time Out: Sophomore Zoe Dubois belted a leadoff, pinch hit home run in the bottom of the eighth to allow The College of Saint Rose to earn a split in Saturday's Northeast-10 Conference opener versus Pace University. The games were played at the Frozen Ropes Complex where the Golden Knights dropped the finale 4-0 following their 1-0 triumph in the first game. Sophomore right-hander Nicole Wickham outdueled Pace junior right-hander Caitlin McCann in the opener. Wickham fanned five and scattered five hits throughout the distance to improve to 4-1 on the year.
 
Scouting Saint Rose: Head coach Abby Arceneaux is in her first season at the helm of the Golden Knights…The former Union College All-American spent the past three years as the pitching coach at Siena…Dubois has now hit in five straight games…Junior infielder Marisa Bird is fourth in the NE-10 with a .414 (12-for-29) batting average…She also paces the team with 10 RBI…Dubois and sophomore infielder Danielle Brusca are both hitting at a .333 clip…Wickham was named the NE-10 Pitcher of the Week on Monday…She has not allowed an earned run in five of her seven appearances this season.
 
Scouting Post: The Eagles split last Thursday's home twin-bill versus Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival Dominican…They dropped the opener, 7-5 in nine innings, but rebounded with a 10-7 victory in the nightcap…Post pounded out 23 hits throughout the afternoon…Sophomore outfielder Kaitlin Iacomini is batting a team-leading .407 (11-for-27) while senior catcher Stephanie DeMartino is hitting .375 (21-for-56) with a team-best 13 RBI…In the circle, junior right-hander Kaitlin Derby is 2-1 with a 2.95 ERA.
 
Up Next: Both teams return to the diamond tomorrow. The Golden Knights host Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne for an NE-10 twin-bill, while the Eagles have a CACC doubleheader at Caldwell.
