PLEASANTVILLE, NY–The College of Saint Rose scored three runs in the ninth inning after having a 7-0 lead evaporate to upend host Northeast-10 Conference rival Pace University in the second game of a doubleheader today. The Setters won the opener 4-1.

Freshman third baseman Tyler Ungerland drove in five runs behind a double and a triple to lead the Golden Knights (12-21/8-8 NE-10) charge in the finale. Junior designated hitter Nick Venier and junior second baseman Ryan Hooker also had two hits apiece. Meanwhile, junior right-hander Chris Gould came on in relief and set down the final five Pace batters in order to grab the win.

Saint Rose scored four in the first and three more in the second, before Pace answered with a pair in both the second and third; and three more in the sixth to tie it.

Junior first baseman Zac Bellinger started the ninth with a double to center, moved to third on an error, and came across on a base hit off the bat of sophomore left fielder Chad Adams. Two batters later, junior catcher Lukas Nethaway drove home Adams with a single to center and then scored himself on a base hit by freshman shortstop Mike Flynn.

Ungerland's three-run triple to deep center highlighted the Saint Rose first, while his two RBI double stood out in the second.

Meanwhile, senior catcher Alexander Rough and senior third baseman Chris Gili had two hits each to lead the Setters.

In the opener, Venier and Ungerland had two hits apiece to lead the Saint Rose offense. Ungerland also stole a base, while senior right-hander Josh Johnson tossed 4.0 innings of three-hit ball out of the bullpen.

For Pace, senior left fielder David Pepe and freshman first baseman John Kukura both went 2-for-4. Junior right-hander Tim Deegan allowed a run on six hits throughout 7.2 innings of work to improve to 3-3 on the year.

Kukura had an RBI base hit and the Setters took advantage of two Saint Rose errors to push across three runs in the fourth. Saint Rose got one back in the eighth when Flynn doubled down the left field line to score Ungerland, who stroked a one-out double two batters earlier.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are on the road Wednesday with a 3:30 pm NE-10 game at American International in Springfield. Meanwhile, the Setters have a 3:30 pm home non-league game Tuesday versus Post University.
