NEW HAVEN, CT– The College of Saint Rose pounded out 10 hits today at
Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State University, but the Golden Knights were on the losing end of a 3-2 score.
Senior first baseman Kaley Marden
drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Southern Connecticut State (11-14/4-8 NE-10).
After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, Saint Rose (8-17/4-9 NE-10) tied the game in the top of the seventh with a two-run double off the bat of sophomore shortstop
Danielle Brusca. She went 2-for-4 on the day.
Following Brusca's game-tying double, senior center fielder
Amber Loussedes singled, advancing Brusca to third. Then senior first baseman
Olivia Reeves kept the inning alive with a walk. However, the Golden Knights could not get the go-ahead run on the board.
Loussedes had three of the team's 10 hits, while freshman third baseman
Carly Wood finished 2-for-3 and a run scored.
Sophomore right-hander Yesenia Evaristo picked up her second win in as many days for Southern Connecticut State. She let up two runs with three walks and six strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work.
Both teams return to action on Wednesday. The Golden Knights host American International for a 3:00 pm doubleheader. Meanwhile, the Owls welcome Pace for a doubleheader of their own, also at 3:00 pm.
