NEW HAVEN, CT– The College of Saint Rose pushed five runs across in the fourth inning of game-two at Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State University on the way to a 6-3 victory. The host Owls took game-one earlier today 3-2 in eight innings.

Sophomore catcher Zoe Dubois hit a sacrifice fly to right field to ignite the Golden Knights (8-16/4-8 NE-10) fourth-inning rally. Junior left-fielder Kari Bird, freshman third baseman Carly Wood, and sophomore designated player Taylor Snyder each collected RBI singles in the inning.  Additionally, junior second baseman Marisa Bird recorded an RBI groundout to conclude the Saint Rose onslaught in the fourth frame.

Senior right-fielder Val Nelson added a run in the fifth with an RBI triple, while senior first baseman Olivia Reeves finished game-two with a 3-for-4 afternoon at the plate and two runs scored. Freshman right-hander Renee Vaiano scattered three runs on five hits throughout 7.0 innings on the mound to pick up her third win of the season.

An RBI single by sophomore third baseman Leanna Feerick gave the Owls (10-14/3-8 NE-10) a dramatic walk-off win in game-one.

The Golden Knights jumped on top 1-0 in the first thanks to a Dubois RBI base-hit. With the game tied 1-1 in the seventh, sophomore pinch-runner Meghan Reynolds scored via a passed ball, giving Saint Rose a 2-1 advantage. However, Southern Connecticut State tied the game a half-inning later, setting the stage for Feerick to deliver the game-winning hit in the eighth.

Sophomore right-hander Yesenia Evaristo earned the win after pitching all 8.0 innings, surrendering two runs on five hits.

The two teams conclude their three-game weekend series on Sunday at 12:00 pm.
