SAINT ROSE CLOSES OUT FLORIDA TRIP WITH TWO SETBACKS

The Golden Knights closed out the final day in Florida with two setbacks.

CLERMONT, FL-Georgian Court and Bridgeport each posted nine runs against The College of Saint Rose today in separate games as the Golden Knights finished out the NTC Games spring break trip. The Lions earned the first win in six innings by a final of 9-1, while the Purple Knights came out on top 9-6 in the finale.
 
Junior outfielder Marisa Bird was one of four Golden Knights (3-6) with two hits on the day. Additionally, she drove in four runs against Bridgeport. Sophomore catcher Zoe Dubois also notched two hits with two RBI. Freshman right-hander Renee Vaiano pitched a complete game in the nightcap. She allowed only one earned run and fanned seven.
 
In the opener, the Golden Knights claimed the first run on a double by Dubois that scored Marisa Bird in the top of the second. However, the Lions (3-5) then scored two in the bottom of the third and capped off the game with a seven run, sixth.
 
Three individuals recorded two RBI for Georgian Court, while sophomore catcher Megahn Sfraga finished with three hits. Senior infielder Taylor McDonough went 2-for-4 with a home run. In the circle, senior pitcher Deanna Daluise earned the victory behind 6.0 innings of one run ball.
 
Bridgeport (1-1) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the second game on six hits throughout the first two innings. The Golden Knights cut the deficit to 7-4 in the bottom of the second, highlighted by a three-RBI double from Marisa Bird. However, the Purple Knights added two more runs in the fourth to make it 9-4. Saint Rose added a run in both the fifth and sixth.
 
Freshman infielder Ashley Hessler scored three runs for Bridgeport while junior outfielder Jade Blair went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
 
The Golden Knights return home to open a four-date homestand at Cathy Haker Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex on Sunday, March 16. Saint Rose welcomes non-conference foe Queens for 1:00 pm doubleheader.
