Box Score

WINTER PARK, FL–The College of Saint Rose rallied from a 7-0 deficit only to fall 10-8 in 10 innings to Concordia earlier today at the 66th Annual Rollins College Baseball Week. The Golden Knights (3-9) pushed across five runs in the bottom of the fourth and tied it 8-8 with a run in the eighth.

Sophomore third baseman Chad Adams doubled and drove in three runs while freshman shortstop Mike Flynn went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI to lead the Golden Knights (3-9) offense. Furthermore, sophomore center fielder Derek Reed singled twice and reached base four times, while junior first baseman Zac Bellinger and junior designated hitter Nick Venier each extended their hit streaks to seven games.

On the hill, senior right-hander Mack Naughton came out of the bullpen to toss 2.1 innings of no-it ball.

Concordia (3-4) scored twice in the second and once in the third to jump out to a 3-0 lead and then scored four runs on only three hits in the fourth to boost its advantage to 7-0.

Saint Rose responded with a five runs in the home half of the fourth. Adams belted a two-run double to left and Flynn brought around another pair with a base hit to center. Bellinger accounted for the other run with a sacrifice fly.

After the squads went scoreless throughout the two frames, the Clippers boosted their advantage to 8-5 in the seventh. An RBI groundout by Adams followed by a run scoring fielder's choice off the bat of senior right fielder Brian Maynard brought the Golden Knights to within one heading to the eighth.

Saint Rose subsequently tied it in the eighth, but left the potential winning run on third in the ninth and eventually brought the tying run to the plate in the 10th. However, the Clippers scored two unearned runs that proved to be the difference in the top half of the latter.

Freshman second baseman Jason Reyes went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored to lead Concordia.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose returns to action tomorrow with a pair of games at Rollins. The Golden Knights will meet University of the Sciences at 11:00 am and will then face the host Tars at 2:30 pm. Meanwhile, the Clippers are scheduled to square off with Saint Anselm at 6:00 pm.
