GOLDEN KNIGHTS SPLIT WITH DOMINICAN

The Golden Knights won game one today 11-0 versus Dominican in five innings.

CLERMONT, FL-The College of Saint Rose split a doubleheader with Dominican at the NTC games earlier today in Florida. The Golden Knights (3-2) claimed an 11-0 win in five innings during the opener followed by a 6-4 setback in the nightcap.
 
Junior infielder Marisa Bird produced five hits with two doubles and three runs. Sophomore infielder Danielle Brusca and junior catcher Alexis Williams each posted three hits and a like number of RBI. Senior outfielder Olivia Reeves also notched three hits.
 
Sophomore designated player Elizabeth Hogan led the Chargers (1-3) with three hits. Freshman infielder Vanessa Parker and sophomore infielder Kimberly Ragazzo each tallied two RBI.
 
In game one, the Golden Knights opened the game quick with three runs in the first two innings. Later, Saint Rose posted eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings to close out the game. Reeves went 3-for-4 with three runs scored while three others each posted two RBI.
 
The run support was more than enough for sophomore right-hander Nicole Wickham who picked up her third victory of the season. Wickham allowed just two hits in 5.0 innings with four strikeouts.
 
During the nightcap, the Golden Knights rallied from a 3-0 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Williams highlighted the inning with a pinch-hit RBI double for the opening runs. She then came around to score the third run and Brusca drove in the fourth with a single.
 
The Chargers tied the game in the next half inning with a Parker RBI sacrifice fly. Dominican followed up with two runs in the top of the seventh inning to produce the victory. Ragazzo tripled home the game-winning run while Hogan scored Ragazzo on a single for the insurance.
 
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights return tomorrow morning at 9:00 am for a game versus Holy Family followed by a 11:00 am first pitch against Mary. Meanwhile, Dominican plays a doubleheader at Florida Southern College starting at 5:00 pm.
