Box Score

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose pulled off one its biggest triumphs of the year by holding off New Haven en route to a 78-74 Northeast-10 Conference victory today at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights shot 51.6 percent (32-for-62) from the floor and went 6-for-6 from the foul in the final 25 seconds to upend a Chargers (15-7/10-6 NE-10) squad that came into this afternoon limiting their opponents to a league-low 62.1 points per-game.

Senior center Dominykas Milka, who prior to tip-off was presented with a special ball commemorating his 1,000th career point from earlier this season, ascended the 20 point plateau for the 10th time in the last 11 games to lead Saint Rose. Milka scored 24 point and hauled in eight rebounds, while sophomore forward Tyler Sayre and senior guard Kareem Thomas scored 19 apiece and combined for 13 caroms.

The Golden Knights (12-10/9-7 NE-10) led throughout the final 35 minutes although the outcome was very much in doubt until the waning moments. Saint Rose built an 11 point advantage four times throughout the second stanza, the last one coming at 66-55 with 8:47 remaining after Thomas knocked down a jumper and Sayre canned a pair from the line.

However, New Haven responded with eight unanswered points to make it a one possession ballgame, 66-63, with 5:05 showing on the clock. The Chargers were within three on five ensuing occasions, but each time Saint Rose countered to keep it a two possession game. Clutch foul shooting down the stretch eventually sealed the victory that allowed the Golden Knights to improve to 8-2 at home.

Junior center Eric Anderson paced four New Haven players in double-figures scoring. Anderson finished with 25 points and seven rebounds, while senior guard Justin Exum  tossed in 19 points. Fellow senior guards Jeffery Adkins and Ashanti DePass added 14 and 11 respectively. Adkins also passed out seven assists.

At halftime, there was a brief presentation in honor of the annual Saint Rose Coaches vs. Cancer/PinkZone Games. All gate receipts from today's NE-10 doubleheader were donated towards the fight against cancer.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are back on the road Wednesday with a 7:30 pm date at Pace University in Pleasantville. Meanwhile, the Chargers head to Syracuse Tuesday to take on Le Moyne at 7:00 pm.
