WEST HAVEN, CT – Two shutouts, including a second no-hitter, allowed host New Haven to take the first two games of a weekend

Junior right-hander
Ashlee Frazier pitched a complete game for the Golden Knights (8-26-1/6-15 NE-10) in the opener despite the loss. She struck out five and allowed just three hits. Junior outfielder

New Haven (29-11/11-5 NE-10) freshman right-hander Nicole King notched the no-hitter in the nightcap by striking out seven. Meanwhile, senior right-hander Micah Stonesifer also threw a complete game in the opener when she fanned nine and surrendered just two hits. Four individuals picked up two RBI for the Chargers at the plate.
The first three innings of the opener went scoreless before sophomore infielder Jess Spivey smacked a solo home run. The Chargers added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly and a single.
In the nightcap, King controlled the Saint Rose offense while the Chargers struck throughout the final four innings. After adding a run in both the third and fifth that was sandwiched by two runs in the fourth, New Haven tallied three runs in the sixth inning on the back of a two RBI single and a run scoring double.
The Golden Knights managed to put two runners on in the seventh inning on a walk and error. However, King struck out two of the next three batters to complete the no-hitter.
The two teams return are scheduled to conclude the three-game, weekend series tomorrow. First pitch is set for 12:00 pm.
