SYRACUSE – Host and “
Upstate Challenge” rival Le Moyne gained a valuable point in the year-long series by sweeping a doubleheader, 5-0 and 6-3, today against The College of Saint Rose. The second game was played as non-conference following a
Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Divisional opener.
With the win, the Dolphins claim a point towards a 7.0-6.0 edge in the “Upstate Challenge” standings with Le Moyne sweeping the series against the Golden Knights in two doubleheaders this season.

Val Nelson each tallied two hits today for Saint Rose (8-23-1/6-12 NE-10). Junior outfielder
Amber Loussedes had her 11-game hitting streak snapped in the nightcap after a hit in the opener. Freshman right-hander
Nicole Wickham allowed just one run with three strikeouts in four innings throughout both games.
The Dolphins (13-16/10-8 NE-10) were led by junior right-hander Vanessa Utley, sophomore catcher Kristie Capuano, and freshman Kirsten Trotta each connecting for four hits.
Junior left-hander Sarah Harrison picked up her 11th victory of the season for the Dolphins in game one with a complete game shutout that included six strikeouts and just two hits allowed. Harrison also helped her own cause with two RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to secure the 5-0 victory.

Taylor Snyder drove in Reeves in the top of the second of the nightcap with a double to score the Golden Knights' first run of the day and take a 1-0 lead. However, Le Moyne scored five runs in the next two innings after being benefitted by two Saint Rose fielding errors.

Danielle Dayton, combined to drive in two runs in the top of fifth inning to bring the score to 5-3. However, the Dolphins responded with an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth and quickly recovered from a Reeves triple in the top of the seventh to hold on.
The Golden Knights return home tomorrow for a 4:00 pm single game against conference divisional rival American International at
Cathy Cummings Haker Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. Meanwhile, Le Moyne begins a four-game weekend series at Southern Connecticut State on Saturday with a first-pitch scheduled for 12:00 pm in New Haven, CT.
