GOLDEN KNIGHTS WIN AND TIE AT ASSUMPTION

Freshman infielder Danielle Brusca tallied five hits during today's doubleheader at divisional rival Assumption.

WORCESTER, MA – The College of Saint Rose rallied to win the first game of a doubleheader 7-5 at Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Divisional rival and host Assumption today. The second game, a "non-conference contest", ended in a 2-2 tie after five innings due to rain and darkness.
 
The Golden Knights (8-16-1/6-8 NE-10) enjoyed a combined 5-for-7 performance with three runs scored and a RBI from freshman infielder Danielle Brusca. Junior outfielder Amber Loussedes added three hits that included a double, two RBI, and a run scored. Saint Rose had 10 different players manufacture 19 hits in the two games.
 
Junior outfielder Tanya Robidoux led the Assumption (9-18-1/6-9 NE-10) effort behind a 3-for-4 afternoon with two runs scored and a like number of RBI. Sophomore infielder Jess DiPilato made true on her only hit of the day with a two-run home run in the opener.
 
After falling behind 5-3 in the first game, the Golden Knights tacked on two runs in the fifth inning to tie the game followed by two more in the sixth to grab a 7-5 lead. Junior outfielder Olivia Reeves tied the game in the fifth as a pinch hitter with a two RBI single. Senior infielder Rachel Reed put Saint Rose up in the sixth inning with an RBI single to score freshman infielder Brusca. Reed scored the insurance run two batters later on a single by freshman catcher Zoe Dubois.
 
Sophomore pitcher Anna Carey closed out the bottom of the seventh to pick up the win and improve her record to 2-1.
 
The Golden Knights generated four hits in the first inning of the second game to score one run as Brusca drove in Loussedes on a single to right center. Robidoux tied the game for the Greyhounds in the bottom half of the first with a sacrifice fly to bring in Dipilato from third.
 
Loussedes notched her second RBI of the day in the second inning to give Saint Rose a 2-1 lead with a double to left field. Robidoux once again was behind Assumption tying the score as she touched home after senior outfielder Melissa Jalbert doubled to center in the bottom of the third.
 
Saint Rose managed only one more hit for the rest of the game while Assumption went hitless in the final two innings before the game was called after the fifth inning.
 
The Golden Knights quickly return to action tomorrow for a non-conference doubleheader at Post. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm from Waterbury, CT. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds begin a three-game home series versus visiting Adelphi on Friday with a 3:30 pm start in Worcester.
