CLERMONT, FL – Closing out the final day of the NTC game in Florida, The College of Saint Rose dropped the day's opening game to Gannon 5-0 and then followed up with a dramatic 3-2 win versus Bridgeport.

Sophomore outfielder Jess Rectenwald started the scoring for Gannon (9-2) in the first game with a third inning, solo homerun.  Rectenwald then continued to be the source of offense for the Knights in the bottom of the fifth when she drove in two runs on a single to right field.  She then scored three batters later on a dropped fly ball in the outfield.  Freshman infielder Kasey McKay scored the first run of the inning on double by sophomore infielder Caitlyn Colucci.

Gannon also received a strong performance from senior right-hander Megan Dragon.  Dragon was credited with the win from circle as she tossed seven scoreless innings that included 13 strikeouts and no walks allowed.

For Saint Rose (2-8), sophomore designated player Marisa Bird batted 3-for-3 on in the opener that included a stolen base.  Senior infielder Rachel Reed and freshman catcher Zoe Dubois each added a single.

In the finale, Bridgeport (0-1) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first.  Sophomore infielder Morgan Dunn and graduate student infielder Emma Wojcik got the Purple Knights on the board with run scoring singles.

It was not until the bottom of the third inning that Saint Rose responded on a solo shot by junior outfielder Olivia Reeves, her first homerun of the year.  Freshman right-hander Ashlee Frazier then buckled down and allowed only two base runners from the second inning until the sixth inning.

In the top of the seventh, the Purple Knights threatened with a one-out double followed by a single.  However, Frazier was able to escape with a strikeout and a groundout to strand both runners.

Junior infielder Val Nelson controlled a one-out double in the bottom of the seventh to set the table for Saint Rose.  Sophomore outfielder Kari Bird followed with a single.  And a steal of second that resulted in a throwing error to score sophomore outfielder Brittany Banks, who was pinch-running for Nelson, for the tying run.  Bird then scored the game-winning run on a passed ball to clinch the victory for the Golden Knights.

Saint Rose now returns north to face Post Thursday, March 14 for a non-conference doubleheader in Waterbury, CT.  First pitch is scheduled for a 3:00 pm.
