CLERMONT, FL – The College of Saint Rose was upended in two contests today at the NTC Games with a 10-0 setback to #15 West Virginia Wesleyan in six innings and a 10-6 defeat at the hands of Wayne State (NE).
West Virginia Wesleyan (12-4), who is ranked #15 in the latest
NFCA Coaches' Poll, scored four runs in the first two innings to claim the early advantage versus the Golden Knights (1-7). Back-to-back singles in the first scored the initial two runs while a single and a walk preceded a sacrifice fly in the second.
The Bobcats then scored six runs in the fifth and sixth innings to close out the contest, In all, West Virginia Wesleyan took advantage of six Saint Rose errors and produced 10 runs on 10 hits. Junior outfielder

Rachel Reed accounted for the two Golden Knights hits.
In the second game against Wayne State (6-2), freshman infielder
Danielle Brusca drove in sophomore designated player
Marisa Bird in the top of the first to put the Golden Knights up 1-0. The Wildcats then took a 2-1 lead in the home half with a pair of unearned runs.
Saint Rose scored four unearned runs of its own in the top of the second. Loussedes had a single that led to three runs thanks to an error. Brusca then followed with a run scoring base hit that made it 5-2 Golden Knights, but the Bobcats responded with six runs on the back of four singles and two walks in the bottom of the frame.
Wayne State the added a run in both the fifth and sixth to go up 10-5, before Saint Rose junior infielder
Val Nelson homered to close out the scoring.
The Golden Knights conclude their 10-game Florida trip with two games tomorrow. They will first face Gannon at 9:00 am followed by a 1:00 pm start versus Bridgeport.
