ALBANY – Pace University scored in each of the first three innings and sent 13 batters to the plate in the sixth on the way to an 18-8
Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division victory against The College of Saint Rose today at
Bob Bellizzi Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
Senior second baseman
Kyle Charron and junior left fielder
Scott Hladik both had two hits and drove in a pair of runs while freshman center fielder
Derek Reed reached base three times by going 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Also, senior designated hitter
Caleb Gleason banged out two RBI for the Golden Knights.
As for the Setters (12-7/4-2 NE-10), senior right fielder Charlie Galasso went 4-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and like number of RBI while senior right-hander Neil Pezzullo fanned seven without issuing a walk throughout 8.0 innings of work to run his record to 3-1 on the year.
The Golden Knights (3-21/0-5 NE-10) hung tough by pushing across four runs in the ninth as Charron whistled a ground ball through the left side that brought across a pair of runs to account for most of the damage.
Looking ahead, these two teams are scheduled to conclude their weekend series with a 12:00 pm doubleheader tomorrow at Bellizzi Field.
