Box Score
PATCHOGUE, NY – The College of Saint Rose broke open a 5-3 game with four runs in the ninth en route to a 9-4 non-conference victory at Molloy this afternoon.
Sophomore left-hander
Bryan Carr allowed two earned runs on four hits throughout 5.0 innings before handing the ball over to junior right-hander
Josh Johnson who fanned four and surrendered a run on only one hit during the last 4.0 innings.
Sophomore first baseman
Zac Bellinger went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored to lead the Golden Knights (3-12) offense. Junior left fielder
Scott Hladik drove in two runs on a pair of base hits while senior third baseman
Kyle Charron and freshman center fielder
Derek Reed also had two hits apiece.
Senior left fielder Greg Walsh went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI to pace the Lions (4-14).
Saint Rose pushed across four runs in the opening frame to take an early lead before Molloy chipped away with two in the third and another in the fifth. A Bellinger two-run base hit to center field and a run scoring triple off the bat of senior catcher
A.J. Capone accounted for most of the damage in the first.
The Golden Knights then went up 5-3 in the seventh when Bellinger belted a two-out double to center that scored Charron.
In the ninth, a two-run single by Hladik coupled with three Molloy errors removed just about all doubt about the eventual outcome although the Lions did score once in the home half of the frame.
Looking ahead, the two teams are scheduled to close out their weekend series with an 11:00 am doubleheader tomorrow.
