GOLDEN KNIGHTS VISIT ADELPHI FOR FIRST-ROUND NE-10 CHAMPIONSHIP ENCOUNTER TONIGHT

Senior guard Andre Pope is one of only five players in Saint Rose annals to record 1,300 points and 300 assists.

The Plot: Both teams are trying to advance to Sunday's quarterfinal game at Assumption. The College of Saint Rose comes into tonight as the 10th seed, while the Panthers are the seventh seed.

Last Time Out: Saint Rose dropped its regular-season finale with Tuesday's 60-59 double-overtime setback at New Haven. The game was close with neither team generating more than a six point lead at any point. It also featured 12 ties and a staggering 22 lead changes. Junior center Dominykas Milka had his usual output of 19 points and 15 rebounds to pace Saint Rose. Senior guard Andre Pope finished with 13 points while freshman forward Tyler Sayre and junior guard Kareem Thomas had 10 each. Sophomore forward Eric Anderson had a “double-double” of his own for New Haven, which ran its win streak to six games and improved to 12-2 at home on the year. Anderson wound up with 12 points and 18 boards.

This Year vs. the Panthers: The Golden Knights won both meetings this year. Freshman forward Chris Dorgler put-back basket at the buzzer lifted Saint Rose 68-67 in overtime on this floor on Wednesday, February 13. The Golden Knights previously upended the Panthers 84-68 back on Wednesday, November 28 in Albany.

Scouting Saint Rose (13-13/10-12 NE-10): Saint Rose has won three of its last five. Last Saturday's 96.2 FT% (25-26) represents the nation's seventh best mark this year. Pope has moved into 13th place on the College's all-time scoring list. He has 1,321 points for his career. He scored his 1300th career point last Saturday and thus became one of only five players in school annals to record 1,300 points and 300 assists (383). Milka recorded his 17th “double-double” of the year on Tuesday. He is the only player among the league's top-five in both scoring (18.0) and rebounding (12.0). He is second in the former and is the conference's top rebounder. Milka also owns four of the conference's top-seven single-game rebounding performances. He is furthermore second in the country in both rebounding average and “double-doubles” and was named the NE-10 Player of the Week for the third time this year on Monday. His 311 rebounds this year are the sixth most in school annals, tying him with Mauricio Almeida who had that many during the 1992-93 campaign. The Golden Knights own a +1.6 turnover margin and are shooting 33.9 percent (60-for-177) from the arc throughout their 13 victories, but stand at +0.1 in TO margin and 27.2 percent (46-for-169) shooting from the arc throughout their 13 setbacks. They are furthermore outscoring their opponents 203-122 from the foul line during their 13 wins, but are being outscored 158-140 from the stripe throughout their 13 losses.

Milka and Sayre Garner NE-10 Honors: Milka was named a first-team Northeast-10 Conference All-League pick and Sayre was selected to the All-Rookie squad yesterday. The teams were announced following a vote of the conference's 16 head coaches.

Scouting Adelphi (14-14/11-11 NE-10): Adelphi had its two-game win streak snapped with Tuesday's 70-57 setback at Southern Connecticut State. Senior guard John Calarco is averaging a team-leading 11.8 points while senior forward Bradley Simpson is producing 11.6 points and a team-best 6.7 rebounds.

Saint Rose in the NE-10 Championship: The Golden Knights have advanced to the NE-10 Championship in 11 of their 12 years. The lone exception was last season. Saint Rose has made five semifinal appearances (2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011) and advanced to the 2007 Championship game, which host and second-ranked Bentley won 71-61.

What's Next: Tonight's winner will head to Assumption for a quarterfinal encounter on Sunday, March 3, at 4:00 pm in Worcester, MA. The conference semifinals are set for Wednesday, March 6 while the league championship game is slated for Saturday, March 9.
