Biography

ABOUT POPE: Will once again assume the starting point guard responsibilities…Exceptional all-around player…Can handle the ball, get to the rim and knock down the 3-pointer…Has made 82 starts throughout the last three years…Those 82 starts are at least 67 more than any of his current teammates…2009-10 Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Year.

AS A JUNIOR: Started all 24 games that he appeared in…Logged at least 35 minutes in nine contests…Averaged 10.7 points as one of four players who finished in double-figures scoring…Dished out a team-leading 3.46 assists on a regular basis…Buried a team-high 39, 3-pointers and produced a 1.43 A:TO ratio…Also averaged 4.5 rebounds…Led the Golden Knights in scoring on seven occasions…Named to the NE-10 weekly honor roll (12/19/11) after averaging 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists throughout two games at the Adelphi Holiday Tournament (12/17-18/11)…Was in double-figures scoring 13 times…Finished with a season-high 24 points, three shy of his career-high, on 8-for-15 shooting from the floor in a 74-71 setback to visiting Pace (12/3/11)…He also tied his career-high with 11 boards in that game…Had 20 points, behind a 6-for-9 shooting effort, and nine rebounds in a 74-64 loss at Saint Anselm (1/3/12)…He furthermore went 4-for-4 from the arc in that outing…Tied his career-high of eight assists during an 80-71 loss versus Southern Connecticut State (2/4/12)…Finished with 13 points, five rebounds and seven assists in a 64-60 setback at Bentley (1/14/12).

AS A SOPHOMORE: Started all 30 games that he appeared in…Led the NE-10 in 3-point shooting accuracy, finished sixth in assists and ninth in both steals and free throw shooting…Canned .454 percent (69-for-152) of his attempts from long range and .823 percent (79-for-96) of chances from the stripe…Handed out 4.00 assists and came up with 1.77 steals per-game…Buried 2.30, 3-pointers per-game, the league’s eighth best mark and wound up 12th in the NE-10 with a 1.25 A:TO ratio…Was third on the team with 12.9 points per-game…Was in double-figures scoring on 22 occasions and tossed in at least 20 points during four games…Came up with at least three steals on six occasions…Named to the NE-10 weekly honor roll (12/20/10) after averaging 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists throughout a pair of victories at the Adelphi Holiday Tournament (12/1-19/10)…Tied his season-high with 22 points to go with eight assists and three steals in a 99-94 OT victory versus Franklin Pierce (1/8/11)…Tossed in another 22 points, on 6-for-10 shooting from the floor, and also handed out four assists  in another OT triumph, this one a 101-93 win versus Saint Anselm (1/15/11).

AS A FRESHMAN: Named the NE-10 Freshman of the Year and was tabbed for the conference’s All-Rookie team after averaging 13.5 points, 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals…Was one of only two players (Jermaine Clark) to start all of the team’s 28 games…Finished second in the NE-10 in 3-point shooting accuracy behind only teammate Shea Bromirski…Canned .434 percent (63-for-145) of his opportunities from the arc…Finished eighth among the league leaders by burying .826 percent (76-for-92) of his free throws…Was also 11th with 3.7 assists and 2.25, 3-pointers per-game…Named the NE-10 Freshman of the Week on three occasions (2/1/10, 2/8/10 and 2/15/10)…Was in double-figures scoring on 22 occasions and came up with at least three steals five times…Paced the Golden Knights in scoring throughout three games…Tossed in a career-high 27 points during an 84-57 victory at Assumption (2/3/10)…Handed out a season-best eight assists on two occasions and came up with a season-high five steals in a 76-64 setback to Stonehill (1/30/10).

HIGH SCHOOL: Helped lead Iona Prep to the CHSSA city and state championships in 2009…Gaels also advanced to the Federation championship game…Three-time All-League and All-County honoree…Earned team MVP accolades as a sophomore when he was also honored with the sportsmanship award…Named MVP of the Iona Prep and White Plains Tournaments as a senior…Scored 1,009 points throughout his high school career.

GENERAL: Comes out of New York Pride AAU Team…Listed Dwayne Wade, Chauncey Billups and  Derrick Rose as the athletes he most admires…Said his mother and now deceased father are the people who have had the greatest influence him…Favorite movies include “Taken”, “Man on Fire”, and “Training Day”…Favorite food is pasta…Mentioned that there are a handful of musical artists he enjoys listening to…Has two cousins who play football at Augustine College…Aspires to play professional basketball overseas following his undergraduate career at Saint Rose…Said winning the 2008-09 city and state championships, and going to the NCAA Tournament as a sophomore have been his best sports moments to date.
