Box Score

ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose dug itself an early hole it could not get out of and thus suffered a 79-62 loss to Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne tonight at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

In the process, the Dolphins (11-9/8-8 NE-10) avenged a 68-66 last second setback to the visiting Golden Knights (10-10/7-9 NE-10) back on November 20 and gained one half point in the year-long Upstate Challenge rivalry series between the two schools that Saint Rose currently leads 6.0 points – 4.0 points.

Saint Rose shot just 38.2 percent (21-for-55) from the floor, including 12.5 percent (1-for-8) from the arc, and was outscored 38-26 in the paint. Conversely, Le Moyne shot 50.9 percent (29-for-57) from the field on the way to its third straight win.

Junior center Dominykas Milka recorded his 13th “double-double” of the year with 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Golden Knights. Freshman forward Tyler Sayre and senior guard Andre Pope finished with 12 points apiece.

For Le Moyne, junior center Jim Janson went 8-for-9 from the floor on the way to a team-high 20 points. Freshman guard Qwadere Lovell tossed in 15 while senior guard Gamel Mohamed and sophomore forward Ryan Romich added 11 and 10 respectively.

The Dolphins jumped out to a 13 point, 20-7, lead 11 minutes into the contest and never looked back. They were up 15, 34-19, at the break and by as many as 20, 46-26, with 14:26 remaining. Saint Rose managed to get to within 14 on five different occasions from the point on, but never really threatened.

Looking ahead, both teams have 3:30 pm conference games scheduled for Saturday. The Golden Knights will travel to New Haven to take on Southern Connecticut State, while Le Moyne will host Assumption in Syracuse.

Note: At halftime, more than 30 Saint Rose student-athletes and both the women's cross country and women's soccer teams were recognized for outstanding performance throughout the past 12 months as part of "Athletic Recognition Night".
