GOLDEN KNIGHTS WELCOME AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL FOR SENIOR DAY

Senior guard Andre Pope will be recognized for his outstanding career during a brief pregame ceremony today.

The Plot: The Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament picture remains cloudy heading into the final week of the season so there is plenty on the line today as The College of Saint Rose entertains American International on Senior Day.

Last Time Out: Host Assumption closed on a 14-4 run to defeat The College of Saint Rose 63-58 Wednesday evening in Worcester, MA. The contest featured nine lead changes and seven ties. Junior center Dominykas Milka paced the Golden Knights with game-highs of 23 points and eight rebounds. A pair of freshmen in forward Tyler Sayre and guard Chris Dorgler finished with 10 points apiece. Meanwhile, senior forward Tim Beinert led the Greyhounds with 18 points.

Last Meeting: Junior guard Dan Mundweiler gave Saint Rose the lead and later secured that advantage by going 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the final 65 seconds to help Golden Knights pick up a 67-62 victory back on Saturday, December 8 in Springfield. Mundweiler finished with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals while senior guard Andre Pope and Sayre shared game-high honors with 16 points apiece. Sayre also pulled down seven rebounds. Furthermore, Milka tied his career-high of 18 rebounds to go with 15 points. Senior guard Sesso Ikpah and junior guard Spencer Braithwaite each scored 15 points to lead the Yellow Jackets.

Scouting Saint Rose (12-12/9-11 NE-10): Saint Rose is looking to improve to 8-5 at home this year. The 68-67 OT win at Adelphi on Wednesday, February 13 marked the third buzzer-beater of the year for the Golden Knights. Dorgler converted a put-back to lift Saint Rose. Previously, Pope hit a reverse layup in a 68-66 triumph at Le Moyne back on Tuesday, November 20 and Milka drained a 10-foot floater in a 56-54 victory versus Bridgeport at the Adelphi Holiday Tournament on Saturday, December 15. Pope has moved into 13th place on the College's all-time scoring list. He now has 1,296 points for his career and thus is in position to become one of five players in school annals to record 1,300 points and 300 assists (378). Milka recorded his 15th “double-double” of the year behind 17 points and 14 rebounds during last Saturday's 71-61 victory against visiting Pace. He is the only player among the league's top-five in both scoring (17.6) and rebounding (11.8). He also owns four of the conference's top-six single-game rebounding performances. Milka is furthermore third in the country in rebounding average and second in “double-doubles”. Dorgler has been in double-figures in three of the last four games. He is averaging 13.0 points during that span. The Golden Knights own a +1.9 turnover margin and are shooting 34.7 percent (58-for-167) from the arc throughout their 12 victories, but stand at -0.7 in TO margin and 27.5 percent (42-for-153) shooting from the arc throughout their 12 setbacks. They are furthermore outscoring their opponents 178-116 from the foul line during their 12 wins, but are being outscored 151-133 from the stripe throughout their 11 losses.

Milka named and Academic All-American®: Milka has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men's Basketball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Milka, a second-team pick, is among a select group of just 15 student-athletes, representing Division II institutions from throughout the country, that have been bestowed with this prestigious honor. To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Scouting American International (9-15/6-14 NE-10): The Yellow Jackets had a two-game win streak snapped with Wednesday's 60-50 setback to visiting New Haven. Senior guard Ricky Hudson is averaging a team-leading 15.7 points while Braithwaite and junior guard Janek Schmidkunz are contributing 11.8 and 10.8 points respectively. Junior center David Campbell hauls in a team-best 7.0 rebounds on a regular basis. He is also averaging 8.4 points.

Senior Day: Pope will be honored in a brief pregame ceremony along with senior cheerleader Rachel May this afternoon.

Up Next: Both teams close out their 2012-13 regular-season slates with 7:30 pm games this Tuesday. The Golden Knights will travel to New Haven while the Yellow Jackets will head east on the Mass Pike for a date at Assumption in Worcester, MA.
