ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose jumped out to a nine point lead and never looked back on the way to a 71-61 victory versus Northeast-10 Conference rival Pace University this afternoon at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights led wire-to-wire and shot 56.3 percent (18-for-32) from the floor in the opening stanza to take a 16 point, 40-24, lead at the break.

Junior center Dominykas Milka registered his 15th “double-double” of the year behind 8-for-11 shooting for Saint Rose. Milka finished with 17 points and 14 boards to lead four players in double-figures scoring. Junior guard Dan Mundweiler tossed in 14 points while freshman forward Tyler Sayre and senior guard Andre Pope had 12 and 10 respectively. Pope also handed out a game-high six assists.

For Pace (9-14/6-13 NE-10), junior forward Jonathan Marceus recorded 26 points and 12 rebounds while senior forward Keon Williams and junior guard Denzel Primus-Devonish added 10 each.

Mundweiler drained a 3-pointer to make it 19-10 Saint Rose with 10:56 to go in the first half. The Golden Knights then scored 12 of the game's next 18 points to go ahead by 15, 31-16, after Sayre converted a layup with 4:39 left.

Pace subsequently opened the second period with a 12-2 jaunt that cut its deficit to six, 42-36, with 13:57 remaining after Marceus drained a jumper and then connected on the second of two free throws. The Setters managed to get to within five, 46-41, a minute later, but a jumper by junior forward Jin Hong and back-to-back 3-pointers by Mundweiler put the Golden Knights in control 54-43 with 9:59 left.

It was then a double-digit ballgame for all but a late three-minute span the rest of the way.

Looking ahead, both squads have 7:30 pm conference dates on tap for Wednesday. The Setters will entertain Adelphi, while the Golden Knights will travel to Worcester, MA for a meeting at Assumption.

As part of the annual Think Pink and Coaches vs. Cancer game, the College donated $2,078.00 to the V. Foundation for Cancer Research, Camp Bravehearts, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The proceeds were derived from today's ticket sales that were subsequently matched by the College.
