Box Score
GARDEN CITY, NY – Freshman forward
Chris Dorgler put-back of a miss by junior center
Dominykas Milka as time expired lifted The College of Saint Rose to a 68-67 thrilling overtime victory versus host
Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi tonight at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
Milka recorded his 14th “double-double” of the year with 16 points and a like number of rebounds to lead the Golden Knights (11-11/8-10 NE-10). Dorgler also wound up with a “double-double” behind career-highs of 19 points and 10 boards. Junior guard
Kareem Thomas added 13 points.
Senior forward Bradley Simpson led Adelphi with 14 point and 14 rebounds.
The Panthers scored the first five points of the extra session to go up 67-62 with 3:07 to go, but Saint Rose held them scoreless the rest of the way. Dorgler knocked down a 3-pointer to make it a two-point affair with 2:50 remaining and after Adelphi came up empty, Thomas went 1-for-2 from the stripe to pull the Golden Knights to within a point.
Neither team was able to score during the ensuing two minutes as Simpson missed a jumper out of a timeout with 13 seconds left. Milka then couldn't get his layup to go, but Dorgler came up with the carom and finished while falling away to allow Saint Rose to snap a four-game skid.
The Golden Knights led by as many as 10, 42-32, midway through the second half, but a 16-7 Panther run dwindled the Saint Rose lead to a point, 54-53, with 5:40 showing on the clock. It was a one possession ballgame the rest of the way although a layup by freshman forward
Tyler Sayre put the Golden Knights ahead by three, 62-59, with 47 ticks left.
Simpson converted a pair of free throws at the other end to again make it a one point ballgame and after junior guard
Dan Mundweiler misfired on the front end of a one-and-one, Simpson then went 1-for-2 from the line to deadlock it 62-62 with 21 seconds left.
Saint Rose never really developed a clean look on its ensuing possession and thus senior guard
Andre Pope was forced to take an off-balance runner that bounced off the back rim as the buzzer sounded to end regulation.
Looking ahead, both teams have 3:30 pm conference dates on tap for Saturday. The Golden Knights will host Pace University for its annual Coaches vs. Cancer/Pink Zone Game. All proceeds will go towards the fight against the cancer. Meanwhile, Adelphi will head to Worcester, MA to take on Assumption.
