Box Score

GARDEN CITY, NY-The College of Saint Rose withstood a late charge by host Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi and in the process ran its win streak to five games behind tonight's 65-62 victory. The Golden Knights (5-2/3-0 NE-10) led throughout the final 38 minutes although a 16 point first half margin was whittled down to a point in the final 27 seconds.

Senior center Dominykas Milka paced Saint Rose with 20 points and eight rebounds, while senior guards Dan Mundweiler  and Kareem Thomas tossed in 13 and 12 points respectively.

Saint Rose jumped out to a 23-7 lead during the game's opening seven minutes, but the Panthers (0-4/0-3 NE-10) closed out the half on a 20-10 run to make it a six point, 33-27, affair at intermission.

The Golden Knights got off to another strong start by opening the second stanza with an 11-6 spurt that afforded them an 11 point, 44-33, cushion after Mundweiler drained a jumper with 16:13 to go. They remained in control and appeared to be in the driver's seat when sophomore forward Chris Dorgler and freshman guard Mical-Ryan Boyd drained back-to-back jumpers that made it 58-45 Saint Rose with 8:02 left.

However, the Panthers countered with 12 unanswered points and suddenly it was anybody's ballgame after junior forward Boris Fodouop hit a jumper of his own to pull Adelphi to within one at 58-57 with 4:32 remaining. Saint Rose twice boosted its advantage back to five, but when sophomore forward Matthew Citron tipped in a miss and sophomore guard Anthony Libroia converted a pair of free throws following his own steal, it was back to one, 63-62, with 27 ticks left.

Adelphi then fouled on the ensuing inbounds play, but Milka neutralized that strategy by burying a pair from the stripe out of an Adelphi timeout to account for the final margin.

Libroia wound up being the lone Panther in twin-figures with 11 points.

Looking ahead, both teams are off until next Wednesday, December4. Saint Rose will visit conference rival Southern Connecticut State at 730 pm. Meanwhile, Adelphi will head to Pleasantville to take on Pace University, also at 7:30 pm.
