Box Score

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose rallied from an eight point halftime deficit to capture a thrilling 98-97 overtime victory against Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne this afternoon at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. In the process, the Golden Knights (4-2/2-0 NE-10) ran their win streak to four games and captured a half point in the year-long Upstate Challenge rivalry series between the two schools.

The game was close throughout with a staggering 17 ties and 20 lead changes. Both squads shot extremely well although Saint Rose committed a mere seven turnovers and manufactured 22 points from 15 Dolphins (2-2/1-1 NE10) miscues.

Sophomore forward Tyler Sayre tossed in a career-high 38 points, the fifth-highest scoring output in the College's NCAA era (1991-92), while senior center Dominykas Milka recorded his sixth "double-double" in as many games behind 16 points and 12 rebounds. Also, senior guard Kareem Thomas tossed in a season-best 18 points while senior guard Dan Mundweiler added 12 for the Golden Knights.

Both teams had a chance on their final possession in regulation. However, Milka had his shot blocked while going to the hoop. At the other end, Le Moyne sophomore forward Connor Mahoney missed the front end of a one-and-one after being fouled while gathering in a loose ball at the top of the key.

There were four more deadlocks during the extra session, but Sayre kept going to the rim that afforded him four trips to the foul line. He made the most of his chances by canning seven of his eight opportunities, including the second of a pair with three seconds left that all but sealed the victory. Milka then deflected the ensuing Dolphins in-bounds pass at midcourt as time expired.

Le Moyne put five players in double-figures scoring including senior guard Nate Champion who nearly matched Sayre's point total. Champion wound up with 35 points and eight assists, while senior center Jim Janson finished with 18 points. Also, Mahoney wound up with 15 while junior forward Ryan Romich and sophomore guard Qwadere Lovell added 13 and 10 respectively.

This afternoon's game was dedicated to Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless, an organization in downtown Albany that provides a series of programs and services to address the needs of the homeless and low-income community.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose has a 7:30 pm conference road date at Adelphi on Tuesday while Le Moyne will take part in the Gary Miller Classic at Gannon University next Friday and Saturday, November 29 and 30. The Dolphins will face the host Knights on Friday at 7:30 pm.
