Box Score

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose shot 52.8 percent (28-for-53) from the floor and put 11 players in the scoring column on the way to an 84-54 victory against visiting Pace University in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both squads this evening.

Sophomore forward Tyler Sayre scored 18 points, nine in each half, and senior center Dominykas Milka recorded his fifth "double-double" in as many games with 19 points and 10 boards to pace the Golden Knights (3-2/1-0 NE-10).

Also, senior guard Kareem Thomas tossed in 11 points while sophomore guard Max Weaver had career-highs of nine points and four boards in a mere six minutes of duty. Also, freshman guard Isaiah Cosbert finished with six points to go along with six assists without a turnover.

As for Pace (0-3/0-1 NE-10), sophomore guard Nick Jackson recorded 14 points and nine boards while sophomore forward Jaylen Mann scored 12 points.

Saint Rose cruised to a 45-22 halftime lead and withstood a 17-5 surge during the initial five minutes of the second period that whittled its margin to 11, 50-39. However, a Milka layup followed by a Sayre jumper pushed its advantage back to 15, 54-39.

Freshman guard Mical-Ryan Boyd then completed a three-point play by finishing a nice fast break feed from Cosbert and converting the ensuing free throw that made it a 20 point, 61-41, affair with 11:08 to go. Saint Rose led by no fewer than 20 the rest of the way en route to its third straight win.

Prior to the game, Milka was recognized for being named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America® team as presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He was one of only 15 NCAA Division II players recognized for outstanding athletics and academic performance last spring.

Looking ahead, both squads have 3:30 pm home conference dates this Saturday. The Golden Knights will host Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne while the Setters will entertain New Haven.
