The Plot: The College of Saint Rose welcomes Southern Connecticut State for a
Northeast-10 Conference encounter this afternoon. The Golden Knights and Owls are both aiming to get 2013 off on a high note after more than two-week hiatuses.

James Wilson and drained a 10-foot turnaround floater at the buzzer to lead the Golden Knights to a 56-54 victory versus Bridgeport on Saturday. The following afternoon, Saint Rose surrendered an 11-point halftime lead and subsequently fell 67-61 at the hands of Philadelphia University.
Last Meeting | Southern Conn. 80-71 (2/4/12 at Saint Rose): Rob Gutierrez poured in a career-high 29 points, but it was not enough as visiting Southern Connecticut State walked away with an 80-71 victory last February 4. Gutierrez hit 10-of-17 shots from the floor and also hauled in nine rebounds in a workmanlike 39 minutes of action for Saint Rose. Brian Hanuschak secured his 19th career “double-double” via 16 points and 14 boards. Sophomore guard Tylon Smith was one of three players in twin-figures for Southern. Smith filled up the box score to the tune of 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Senior forward Trevon Hamlet tossed in 16 points, while junior guard Greg Langston added 10.

Scouting Saint Rose | 7-3/4-2 NE-10: The Golden Knights have held their 10 opponents to 61.8 points on 40.0 percent (227-for-568) shooting from the floor. They have furthermore outscored them by an average of 7.2 points and have yet to surrender 70 points in a game. Milka leads four players in double-figures scoring with 16.2 points per-game, the eighth best mark in the NE-10. He is second in the nation with a 12.7 rebounding average and furthermore leads the country with eight “double-doubles”, including six straight. Senior guard

Dan Mundweiler are also in double-figures scoring. Pope is scoring at a 14.5 ppg clip, while Sayre and Mundweiler are averaging 11.3 ppg and 10.0 ppg respectively.
Scouting Southern Connecticut State | 6-4/3-3 NE-10: The Owls have gone to overtime in each of their past two games. They upended visiting Concordia 99-94 in double OT back on Saturday, December 15 and fell 75-72 at home to in-state rival Bridgeport four days later. Hamlet and Langston account for 45.9 percent of the squad's scoring production. Hamlet is averaging 18.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg and a league leading 2.5 blocks per-outing while Langston is averaging 16.8 ppg and a team-best 6.5 rpg.
