SAINT ROSE GETS BACK ON TRACK VERSUS BENTLEY

Junior center Dominykas Milka passed out eight assists and scored 21 points in today's 74-67 win versus Bentley.

ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose snapped a five-game skid and also defeated Bentley after 13 straight losses to the Falcons behind a 74-67 Northeast-10 Conference victory today at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.  The last Golden Knights (8-7/5-6 NE-10) win against Bentley (7-8/5-6 NE-10) was on January 22, 2004 via a 91-79 victory in Waltham, MA. 
 
Junior center Dominykas Milka recorded 21 points, a career-high eight assists and eight rebounds to lead Saint Rose.  Freshman forward Tyler Sayre pulled in a career-high 10 boards to go with eight points and four assists; while junior guard Dan Mundweiler tossed in five, 3-pointers on the way to 17 points.
 
Freshman forward Tyler McFarland posted 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Bentley (7-8/5-6 NE-10).  Sophomore guard JP Koury connected on 4-of-5 shots from beyond the arc to help accumulate 18 points in the effort.  Also, freshman guard Shakir Phelps added 12 points in 26 minutes off the bench.
 
A Milka jumper with 4:32 left in the first half afforded Saint Rose a 10 point, 33-23, leadf. However, the Falcons closed out the period with a 9-4 spurt that made it a 37-32 ballgame at the break. 
 
After a McFarland jumper in the opening seconds of the second half, Saint Rose scored eight unanswered points to go up 45-34.  Bentley then took its first lead since the game's opening two minutes with an 18-5 run that put the Falcons up 52-50 with 11:03 left.
 
Mundweiler then answered at the other end with a 3-pointer and Milka finished inside to put Saint Rose ahead to stay at 57-56 with 7:43 remaining.  Bentley got it back to three within the final two minutes, but a pair of free throw from Sayer and a dunk by senior guard Andre Pope provided the final touches.
 
Pope finished with 14 points and junior guard Kareem Thomas added 10 points, five boards and three assists to help the Golden Knights effort.
 
Looking ahead, both teams have 7:30 pm conference dates on tap for Wednesday. The Golden Knights will host Merrimack in a game that will be streamed live on www.gogoldenknights.tv. Meanwhile, the Falcons will head to Long Island to take on Adelphi.
