GOLDEN KNIGHTS TAKE ONE OF TWO FROM BENTLEY

Senior third baseman Jessica Butterbrodt was a collective 3-for-6 with two RBI and a run today
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WALTHAM, MA – The College of Saint Rose finished one shy of its season-high with 11 hits on the way to a 5-1 triumph in the opener, but host Bentley University outlasted the Golden Knights 2-1 in eight innings as the two clubs split a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader this afternoon.

Senior second baseman Kayla Kuilema finished 3-for-4 with a double and scored a pair to pave the way for Saint Rose (10-19/6-10 NE-10). Senior third baseman Jessica Butterbrodt wound up 2-for-4 with two RBI, while sophomore outfielder Olivia Reeves and junior infielder Rachel Reed each went 2-for-4 and drove in a run.

Senior southpaw Sarah Arbogast allowed only an earned run and fanned eight to collect the victory for the Golden Knights.

Reed singled to start the second and eventually scored on an RBI single by senior right fielder Steph Luce. In the third, Butterbrodt plated Kuilema on a triple and then came across on an RBI single from Reed that made it 3-0. Saint Rose gave itself some breathing room when Kuilema doubled in the seventh and touched home on a triple by Reeves. Reeves then crossed safely following a base hit by Butterbrodt.

In the second game, the Golden Knights manufactured a run in the sixth when Reeves walked and moved up a base on a sacrifice by Butterbrodt. Reed delivered a double to get the Golden Knights on the board.

It was still a one-run ballgame in the bottom of the seventh until Bentley junior shortstop Laura McDonough struck with an RBI single. After Saint Rose was unable to get anything started in the eighth, sophomore infielder Kelly Sanborn led things off with a double and moved to third on a passed ball. Sophomore right fielder Chelsea Tamuk smacked a two-out single to seal things for the Falcons.

Reed and Butterbrodt each finished 1-for-2 for the Golden Knights, while Tamuk ended up 2-for-3 with a run to pace Bentley.

Both clubs will have Easter Sunday off before returning to action next week. Saint Rose heads to Southern Connecticut State University for an NE-10 matinee Monday afternoon. Game one is set for 3:00 pm. Meanwhile, Bentley is scheduled to host Saint Michael's College at 3:00 pm Wednesday.
