ALBANY - The College of Saint Rose women's basketball team will try to run its home record to 11-1 when the Golden Knights square off against Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi University at 5:30 pm tonight at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The game will be broadcast live via the web with Chad Cooper calling the play-by-play action on www.gogoldenknights.tv.

THE SERIES
Today marks the 33rd meeting between the two clubs. Saint Rose has more victories (27) against Adelphi than any other opponent throughout its exclusive NCAA II era, which began at the outset of the 1991-92 campaign. The Golden Knights have won nine in a row and 24 of the past 25 meetings.

LAST MEETING
Saint Rose owned the glass in a 57-43 victory at Adelphi University back on November 30. The Golden Knights held a 41-28 margin on the boards and had three players reach double-figures. Senior guard Ashley Rath and senior guard Ola Shajuyigbe finished with 14 points and four rebounds apiece to pave the way for Saint Rose. The Panthers received 12 points and eight caroms from junior guard Kara Tancredi. Sophomore forward Jessica Kitrys added 10 points as well. Saint Rose led wire-to-wire and walked into the locker room up 13, 31-18, at the break. The Golden Knights shot an efficient 60.0 percent (12-for-20) from the floor throughout the opening 20 minutes and outscored the Panthers 16-6 over the final 8:09 to provide themselves with a double-digit cushion. Saint Rose limited Adelphi to just two field goals over that span to break open what was a three-point, 15-12, ballgame. The Golden Knights then maintained at least a double-digit advantage for most of the second half, although the Panthers got to within eight, 47-39, after Tancredi buried a pair of free throws with 2:38 to go.

SCOUTING SAINT ROSE (14-7/11-6 NE-10)
The Golden Knights have won five of their last six games following Saturday's 71-65 win versus Southern Connecticut State. Saint Rose thus ran its home record to 10-1 on the year. The Golden Knights are outscoring their opponents by an +11.7 margin in Albany. From an overall standpoint, Saint Rose yields just 55.6 points per-game, which ranks second in the NE-10. The Golden Knights are limiting opponents to a league-low 34.1 percent shooting from the floor. Saint Rose additionally paces the NE-10 in blocks (4.9 bpg) and is 11th in the country (Division II) in free throw percentage (77.0). Rath has been in twin-figures in 12 straight games. She is currently second in the league behind 18.3 points per-game. Rath is furthermore fifth in NE-10 and 11th in the nation in free throw percentage (88.8) where she has buried 43 of her last 45 attempts. Junior forward Maria Sanchez Gonzalez was inserted into the starting lineup in a 68-62 win at Merrimack on January 17. The Golden Knights have gone 5-1 and Sanchez is nearly averaging a "double-double" behind 9.0 points and 11.0 rebounds during that time. She was producing just 1.4 points and 2.5 rebounds prior.

SCOUTING ADELPHI (8-13/6-11 NE-10)
The Panthers have won two in a row after enduring a season-long six-game skid. Adelphi comes into tonight on the heels of Saturday's 62-59 win at American International. Kitrys and senior guard Amanda Campusano are the lone players in twin-figures scoring for the Panthers. Kitrys contributes team-highs of 14.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per-game. She is also seventh in the NE-10 in field goal percentage (54.5). Campusano is tossing in 10.4 points per-outing, while sophomore guard Sade Jackson is handing out 5.4 assists for the league's second-highest average. 

HOME SWEET HOME
The Golden Knights have found great success at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium since its renovation prior to the 2004-05 season. Saint Rose has posted a 77-25 home slate for a .755 winning percentage. Furthermore, the Golden Knights have defeated five ranked opponents on their home floor, including twice last season.

STUDENT-ATHLETE NIGHT
The Saint Rose Athletics Department will be recognizing and honoring the athletic achievements of our student-athletes based upon their on-field performance at halftime of tonight's men's basketball game. Student-athletes from spring 2011 and fall 2011 who were honored for their athletic performance by the Northeast-10 Conference, NCAA or the various coaching organizations will be recognized. President Dr. R. Mark Sullivan and Athletics Director Cathy Haker will serve as presenters for this special event.

UP NEXT
Both squads have a pair of league games on the schedule this Saturday. Saint Rose heads to Pace University for a key 1:30 pm matchup. Meanwhile, Adelphi returns home to host Assumption. That contest will start at 1:30 pm as well.
