Box Score

GARDEN CITY, NY –  The College of Saint Rose allowed an 11 point halftime lead to evaporate after Philadelphia University shot 60.0 percent (15-for-25) from the floor throughout the second half to upend the Golden Knights 67-61 in the final day of action at the Adelphi Holiday Tournament this afternoon.

Junior forward Dominykas Milka recorded his sixth straight “double-double” and eighth of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Golden Knights (7-3). Senior guard Andre Pope, freshman forward Tyler Sayre and junior guard Kareem Thomas were also in twin-figures with 11 points each.

Senior guard Jim Connolly scored 17 of his team-high 19 points in the second stanza to pace the Rams (7-3) comeback. Freshman guard Andre Gibbs tossed in 15 while freshman forwards TJ Huggins and Peter Alexis wound up with 12 and 10 respectively.

Philadelphia outscored Saint Rose 18-9 throughout a seven minute span midway through the second stanza that transformed a seven point, 43-36, Golden Knights advantage into a two point, 54-52, deficit with 5:12 to go. Saint Rose forged two more deadlocks during the next one and a half minutes with the last one at 57-57 with 3:49 to go after Milka finished in the paint. However, the Golden Knights were only able to score one more field goal the rest of the way.

They were still within three, 64-61, though with 29 seconds remaining when the Rams missed the front end of a one-and-one, but came up with the offense rebound to all but seal the outcome.

The contest had a different look to it 20 minutes earlier when Saint Rose closed out the first half with a 12-0 run to go in the locker room up 34-23 at the break. The Golden Knights shot 50.0 percent (14-for-28) from the floor and outrebounded the Rams by a 21-10 margin throughout the first period. Unfortunately, they shot at a 32.0 percent (8-for-25) clip during the second period that helped open the door for the Rams.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is off until Saturday, January 5 when the Golden Knights will host Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 pm from the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. Meanwhile, Philadelphia has a 3:00 pm non-conference date at Stonehill on Saturday, December 29 in Easton, MA.
