SAINT ROSE RALLIES FROM FIVE RUN DEFICIT TO UPEND HOST DOMINICAN

Junior shortstop Jesse Burba drove in the game-winning run in today's 6-5 come-from-behind victory at Dominican.
ORANGEBURG, NY – The College of Saint Rose rallied from a 5-0 deficit to upend host Dominican 6-5 in a non-conference game this afternoon at Veterans Park.

Senior center fielder Ryan Price went 2-for-5 with a double and a triple, junior shortstop Jesse Burba finished 2-for-5 with the game-winning RBI, and sophomore designated hitter Caleb Gleason wound up 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead the Golden Knights (6-10) offense.

Meanwhile, two freshmen right-handers came out of the bullpen to help snap the host Chargers' five-game win streak. Matthew Coleman scattered a pair of hits and fanned three throughout 2.0 innings of work to register his first collegiate victory. Ryan Harper then came into the ninth with one on, and after issuing a walk to put the tying run in scoring position, he retired the next three Dominican batters in order for his second save of the season.

Saint Rose struck for three runs in the eighth to complete the comeback. Leadoff base hits by freshman third baseman Jevonte Osterhout, Gleason, and sophomore pinch hitter Jake Ostroff filled the bases for senior second baseman Ryan Burke who drew a walk. Gleason then scored on a passed ball and Burba delivered the game-winning hit with a base hit to centerfield.

The Golden Knights initially got on the board in the fourth when Price smoked a leadoff triple to right-center and then came around when senior right fielder Garret Keenan followed with a base hit to left. Two innings later, junior first baseman Daniel Marshall drove home Price with a single and then scored when freshman left fielder Brian Maynard bounced a base hit through the left side.

For Dominican (10-7), sophomore designated hitter Toby Blake went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs and sophomore infielder Andrew Camardella wound up 2-for-4 with an RBI.

A two-run base hit by senior right fielder Dan Robinson highlighted a four run first for the Chargers, while a one out double by Blake in the third made it a 5-0 ballgame.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is scheduled to return home for a 12:00 pm Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader with UMass Lowell on Saturday. Dominican on the other hand has a 7:15 pm meeting at Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival Nyack College tomorrow.
