Box Score

GARDEN CITY, NY – The College of Saint Rose women's basketball team held its fourth opponent to 50-points or less this season by owning the glass in a 57-43 Northeast-10 Conference victory at Adelphi University tonight. The Golden Knights held a 41-28 margin on the boards and had three players reach double-figures to close out the month of November with a 5-1 slate.

Senior guards Ashley Rath and Ola Shajuyigbe finished with 14 points and four rebounds apiece to pave the way for Saint Rose (5-1/3-1 NE-10). Meanwhile, senior forward Ali Johnson filled up the box score with 11 points, 10 boards and five blocks. She furthermore became one of only six players in program history to record 100 career blocks (102).

The Panthers (2-4/1-3 NE-10) received 12 points and eight caroms from junior guard Kara Tancredi. Sophomore forward Jessica Kitrys added 10 points as well.

Saint Rose led wire-to-wire and walked into the locker room up 13, 31-18, at the break. The Golden Knights shot an efficient 60.0 percent (12-for-20) from the floor throughout the opening 20 minutes and outscored the Panthers 16-6 over the final 8:09 to provide themselves with a double-digit cushion. Saint Rose limited Adelphi to just two field goals over that span to break open what was a three-point, 15-12, ballgame.

The Golden Knights then maintained at least a double-digit advantage for most of the second half, although the Panthers got to within eight, 47-39, after Tancredi buried a pair of free throws with 2:38 to go. Freshman guard Gabie Polce responded for Saint Rose with two free throws and then knocked down a jumper to boost the Golden Knights advantage back to 12, 51-39.

Saint Rose put things away from the foul line, which also helped combat a season-high 27 turnovers. The Golden Knights buried 14-of-17 attempts in the second stanza alone and outscored Adelphi 19-7 from the charity stripe in the contest.

Both squads return to action Saturday with a pair of league games on tap. Saint Rose is set to host Pace University at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium, while Adelphi heads to Assumption College. Both games will tip at 1:30 pm.
