WEST HAVEN, CT –The College of Saint Rose was outscored 14-7 in overtime during an 80-73 setback at Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven tonight in what marked the league opener for both teams. The Golden Knights, who also fell in OT to Concordia in Saturday's season-opener in Albany, shot 50.9 percent (29-for-67) from the floor, but just 27.3 percent (3-for-11) from the arc and 57.1 percent (12-for-21) from the line.

Senior guard Rob Gutierrez finished with 18 points and five rebounds and senior forward Brian Hanuschak  wound up with 17 points and five boards to pace Saint Rose (0-3/0-1 NE-10), which had four players in double-figures scoring.

The game featured 12 ties and 13 lead changes although the Chargers never trailed in the extra session. Previously, the game was close throughout as the Golden Knights went into the locker room up one, 30-29, at the break. It then pretty much remained a one possession ballgame throughout the second half.

Hanuschak converted a traditional three-point play and senior forward Sheldon Griffin finished inside to put the Golden Knights ahead by one, 64-63, with 3:04 remaining; but New Haven held Saint Rose to a field goal the rest of the way to force overtime.

Junior guard Andre Pope wound up with 16 points and sophomore center Dominykas Milka had 10 points in 26 minutes off the bench to help the Saint Rose cause. Furthermore, sophomore guard James Wilson hauled in a career-high nine boards to go with five assists.

For the Chargers, sophomore guards Justin Exum and Jeffery Adkins, Jr. scored 21 and 17 points respectively, and freshman forward Eric Anderson tossed in 15.

Looking ahead, both teams have 7:30 pm home conference dates scheduled for Tuesday. The Golden Knights will host Le Moyne as part of the year-long “Upstate Challenge” that the two schools announced earlier this autumn. New Haven meanwhile will welcome Pace University to Charger Gymnasium.
