KUTZTOWN, PA – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches this afternoon in day two action at the Kutztown Classic. The Golden Knights (0-3) were defeated by a combined 10 points in a 3-0 loss versus West Chester, which preceded a five-set thriller that resulted in a 3-2 setback against the host Bears.
Today's opener was decided by the slimmest of margins as the Golden Rams (2-0) picked up 25-22, 25-21 and 25-21 victories to sweep Saint Rose.

Sarah Kahrs and senior middle hitter
Kelly Ryan led the Golden Knights' effort. Kahrs finished with 12 digs, 11 kills and seven blocks, while Ryan collected 10 blocks to go with three kills.
Also for Saint Rose, senior outside hitter
Rachel Baxter finished with five kills and three blocks and freshman middle hitter
Alex Gagliano added seven blocks up front.
In the day's second match, the two clubs split the first four sets 7-25, 26-24, 17-25 and 25-23. However, the Bears (2-0) came away with a 15-4 margin in the deciding fifth set to keep their unblemished record intact.
Kahrs and Ryan again led the way for the Golden Knights. Kahrs contributed 14 kills, 13 digs and five blocks, while Ryan recorded 12 blocks and five kills. Furthermore, junior middle hitter

Christina Strezenec spearheaded the defensive unit with 19 digs.
Saint Rose now has two days to prepare for its 2010 home opener on Tuesday night. The Golden Knights are scheduled to host Nyack College for a 7:00 pm non-league affair at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
