ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose batted around in both the second and third innings on the way to a 14-0 victory against visiting St. Joseph (VT) this afternoon at Bleecker Stadium. The game was halted after five innings via a run differential rule.
Junior designated hitter
Derek Marshall and freshman first baseman
Andrew Simpson had a pair of hits and three RBI each to pace the Golden Knights (11-17), who have now won four of their last five.
Meanwhile, junior right-hander
Nate Ward tossed 4.0 innings of perfect baseball and freshman right-hander
Tom McDonald put St. Joseph (0-7) down in order in the seventh to complete the unblemished outing.
Marshall had both an RBI double and a two run double in the second when Saint Rose pushed across eight runs. The Golden Knights added four more in the third when a two-run single down the left field line by freshman second baseman
Nick Alexandrovich produced most of the damage. An RBI base hit by freshman catcher
Daniel Marshall coupled with a Simpson sacrifice fly accounted for two more runs in the fourth.
Saint Rose is scheduled to get back to
Northeast-10 Conference action tomorrow with a 3:30 pm home game versus New Haven. Meanwhile, St. Joseph has a noon twin-bill on tap at St. John Fisher in Rochester on Saturday.
