EASTON, MA – Stonehill College junior shortstop Brenden Shepard connected on a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to propel the host Skyhawks past The College of Saint Rose baseball team 10-9 Friday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action.
The Golden Knights (14-20/9-10 NE-10) held a 5-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth on the heels of an RBI single by sophomore left fielder
Garret Keenan and an RBI double by junior catcher
Derek Marshall.
However, Stonehill (18-14/10-8 NE-10) answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth and combined for six runs in the seventh and eighth to take a 9-8 lead. Saint Rose knotted things 9-9 in the top of the ninth to force extra innings when freshman
John Kelly scored on an error.
Freshman third baseman
Jesse Burba wound up going 2-for-4 with four RBI, a double and a triple to pace the Golden Knights. Keenan finished 2-for-5 with an RBI as well.
Saint Rose returns to action tomorrow when the Golden Knights head to UMass Lowell for an NE-10 doubleheader. Meanwhile, Stonehill steps out of conference tomorrow when it hosts Saint Michael's College.
