Freshman second baseman Michael Carbone extended his hitting streak to nine games this afternoon.
NEW HAVEN – Host Southern Connecticut State scored in every inning except the fifth to hand The College of Saint Rose a 9-5 setback in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon. The Owls (7-4/2-0 NE-10) pushed across two runs in both the second and fourth frames and jumped to a 6-1 lead after four, before the Golden Knights (4-11/0-2 NE-10) scored a pair in the seventh and two more in the ninth.

Sophomore right fielder Jake Perez had an RBI single and junior left fielder Ryan Price stroked a leadoff base hit to highlight the Saint Rose seventh. The Golden Knights then took advantage of three walks and a hit-batsman in the ninth.

Price finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while freshman second baseman Michael Carbone doubled to the gap in left-center in the fourth to extend his hitting streak to nine games. Sophomore left-hander David Batchelder hurled 3.1 innings of one-hit relief. Batchelder fanned three, walked one and allowed only an unearned run.

Freshman first baseman Ryan Geffert went 2-for-4 and stroked a two-out, solo home run in the third for the Owls who have now won four straight and seven out of their last eight.
