LANTANA, FL – The College of Saint Rose suffered a 9-7 setback to Southern Connecticut State in its 2009 Northeast-10 Conference opener today in which Saint Rose forfeited a traditional home date. The game also brought closure to the Golden Knights (4-10/0-1 NE-10) annual spring trek through Florida.
The visiting Owls (4-4/1-0 NE-10) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first, added three more in the fourth and then pushed across what held up as the winning run in the eighth.

Garret Keenan both went 3-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the Golden Knights attack. Also, sophomore outfielder
Angel Nunez belted a three-run homer in the third to cut the Saint Rose 4-0 deficit to a run.
Saint Rose and Southern Connecticut State are scheduled to conclude their two-game NE-10 series with a 3:30 pm date Tuesday in New Haven.
