LANTANA, FL – The College of Saint Rose suffered a 4-3 setback to Dowling College in a game that concluded this evening after being halted last night with the score tied 3-3 in the 12th inning due to time constraints. The Golden Knights also suffered a 7-5 setback to Dominican earlier in the day.
Against Dowling, the Golden Lions pushed across the winning run with one down in the top of the 12th after each squad had pushed one across in the eighth yesterday. Freshman second baseman
Michael Carbone went 2-for-6 with a triple, sophomore right fielder
Angel Nunez also finished 2-for-6 with a pair of stolen bases and junior designated hitter
Derek Marshall wound up 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead Saint Rose (2-9).
In the regularly-scheduled game with Dominican, the Chargers pushed across six runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to go up 7-0. Saint Rose managed to get one back in the seventh and four more in the ninth.
Marshall went 2-for-4, Nunez tripled and junior catcher
John Cole had an RBI double and scored a run for the Golden Knights.
Saint Rose has tomorrow off, before returning to the diamond for Friday's 1:30 pm doubleheader versus St. Thomas Aquinas in Lantana, FL. The Golden Knights will then wrap-up their weeklong trip to the Sunshine State with a 9:15 am date Saturday versus Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State. Meanwhile, Dowling and Dominican are scheduled to face each other tomorrow.
