GOLDEN KNIGHTS ADVANCE IN NE-10 TOURNAMENT BY UPENDING SAINT MICHAEL'S 66-46

Senior forward Ashley Anderson had a "double-double" by halftime to lead the Golden Knights to a 66-46 first round NE-10 victory against Saint Michael's this afternoon.
ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose held visiting Saint Michael's to 29.2 percent shooting en route to a 66-46 first round Northeast-10 Conference victory this afternoon at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. In the process, the seventh-seed Golden Knights (19-9) avenged two regular-season setbacks to the 10th-seed Purple Knights (14-13) and advanced to their sixth conference quarterfinal throughout their nine-year tenure in the league. Saint Rose will now visit second-seed Stonehill on Tuesday at 7:00 pm in Easton, MA.

The Golden Knights outrebounded Saint Michael's by a 44-28 margin, and furthermore forced the Purple Knights into 21 turnovers and a 1-for-15 shooting effort from the arc.

Senior forward Ashley Anderson procured a “double-double” by halftime and wound up tying her career-high with 19 points and recording a career best 19 rebounds to lead Saint Rose to its 10th triumph within the last 12 games. Anderson went 9-for-12 from the floor and also had a pair of assists to go with two steals. Senior guard Dana Brown finished with 14 points, while sophomore guard Lynsey Timbrouck wound up with eight points, four rebounds and five assists.

Saint Rose led wire-to-wire and used a pair of spurts early in each period to set the tone. The Golden Knights forced Saint Michael's into 20.0 percent (3-for-15) shooting from the floor and 10 turnovers on the way to a 22-8 lead with six minutes to go until intermission.

Saint Rose later used a 16-8 run at the onset of the second period to go up 18, 47-29, with 12:44 to go in the ballgame.

Three minutes later, junior guard Elizabeth Buckley removed all doubt about the outcome by converting a layup to make it a 20 point, 55-35, affair. The Golden Knights eventually boosted their advantage to 25 points on two occasions throughout the final 3:44.

For Saint Michael's, sophomore forward Logan Pintka and senior center Anna Florent had nine points apiece. Junior forward Michelle Otey and junior guard Alexis Keller added eight each.
