ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose put five players in double-figures scoring for the second time this season and headed into the holiday break on a positive note behind a 79-67 non-conference win against visiting C.W. Post this afternoon. Saint Rose outscored the Pioneers by a 22-11 margin from the free throw line and held a 37-29 rebounding edge.

Amy Voelkel had a career-high 13 points to go with five rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench. Senior center
Lauren Revesz rounded out the double-digit performers behind 10 points and five boards.
Saint Rose (7-4), which completed its non-league schedule with an unblemished 5-0 mark, broke open a one point, 31-30, game with a 22-6 run that bridged a seven minute span throughout the two halves. The spurt put the Golden Knights in control via a 17 point advantage, 53-36, with 17:16 remaining. The opening jaunt encompassed a 13-4 run during the final 3:37 of the first period that put them up 44-34 at the break. They carried the momentum into the opening three minutes of the second period via a 9-2 jaunt.
It was a double-digit affair pretty much the rest of the way although C.W. Post (4-5) cut its deficit to nine, 71-62, with 3:47 left. However, Saint Rose sealed its fate by going 6-for-6 from the foul line down the stretch.
Junior guard Gina Catherall led the Pioneers with 15 points, while freshman guard Felicia Joyner and sophomore guard Emily Hall added 11 apiece.
Both teams have two weeks off to celebrate the holiday season. The Golden Knights return to Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday, January 3 when American International visits for a 1:30 pm game. Meanwhile, C.W. Post will host Bloomfield that afternoon at 2:00 pm.
