Saturday, March 27 | 4:00 pm
Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex | Albany, New York
American International (0-1-0) at Saint Rose (1-1-0)
Series: AIC leads 16-3-2 |
First Meeting: 9/29/99
No Spectator Policy: All games are subject to change based upon COVID-19 surveillance testing for both The College of Saint Rose and its opponents. In addition, per Northeast-10 Conference and New York State Department of Health guidelines, no spectators are permitted in games scheduled at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
Â
Last Meeting (11/2/19): The two teams played to a 1-1 draw on Sullivan Field. Yanis Boucetta headed home a cross in the 30th minute to put American International up 1-0. Sophomore forward
Hilmar Halldorsson tied it seven minutes later, which is how it ended. Saint Rose manufactured a 5-3 second half shot advantage and a 5-3 corner kick differential, but it could not come up with a game-winner.
Â
Last Time Out: The Golden Knights scored 12 first half goals on the way to Wednesday's 17-0 victory at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The offensive output represented a single-game school record. Freshman forward
Erick Radtke and Halldorsson paced the Saint Rose attack with four and three goals respectively. Ten different players found the back of the net at least once.
Â
Scouting Saint Rose (1-1-0): The Golden Knights have a young team with only three seniors in midfielders Oskar Aaströem and
Andrew Lule, and forward
Filippo Bellú. The trio has started 135 games collectively and has helped set the tone for the program's continued growth. At the other end, 10 newcomers have adjusted well to the collegiate game and appear poised to be significant contributors.
Â
Quoting Head Coach John Ciano: "We're going to treat this as a championship segment and so we're looking to improve on a daily basis, to be competitive and to properly represent Saint Rose men's soccer. We're also going to appreciate the moment because we have learned how quickly things we sometimes take for granted can be taken away."
Â
Scouting American International (0-1-0): The Yellow Jackets dropped their lone match thus far with a 4-1 setback at Franklin Pierce on March 19. The host Ravens scored twice in each half, before junior forward Colin Spaulding put American International on the board in the 85th minute.
Â
Diversity: The Saint Rose roster features student-athletes from six foreign countries including; Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Iceland, and Australia.
Â
Up Next: Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are scheduled to play at Bryant and Stratton-Albany this Wednesday while the Yellow Jackets have a home date set for Thursday versus Franklin Pierce.
