Â
Last Meeting (9/4/16): The College of Saint Rose struck in the opening three minutes and then held off a persistent Concordia attack to upend the visiting Clippers 2-0. Junior forward
Ryan Rooney accounted for both goals and keeper Christian Esposito recorded six saves en route to his second career clean sheet to lead the Golden Knights. Rooney also nearly completed the hat trick, but his shot rattled off the left goal post in the final minute. Rooney got Saint Rose on the board with 2:45 elapsed and then converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute after he was tripped up in the area.
Â
Scouting Saint Rose (0-0): The Golden Knights return 15 letterwinners from last year's 5-9-2 squad for second year head coach
John Ciano. Rooney, a first-team All-Northeast-10 Conference pick, finished second among the league leaders with 13 goals. Also back in the mix is senior midfielder
Suleiman Haruna-iya who tallied three goals and a pair of assists in 2016.
Â
Scouting Concordia (0-1): The Clippers opened their season with Thursday's 3-1 setback at NYIT. Two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Stars in junior keeper Jaime Gonzalez and senior back Matteo Fabbri return for first year head coach Jeff Flesichmann. Concordia finished 11-6 and 9-3 in the CACC a year ago.
Â
Up Next: The Golden Knights have a 4:00 pm road date at Nyack on Thursday while the Clippers host Goldey-Beacom next Saturday at 2:00 pm.
