SERIES: Saint Thomas Aquinas 3-2-1
 
LAST MEETING: The Spartans handed The College of Saint Rose a 1-0 setback last September 11 down in Sparkill, NY. The two teams generated 14 shots apiece, although the Golden Knights had an 8-4 edge in corner kicks and a 5-4 advantage in shots-on-goal. Regardless, junior forward Daouda Kone found the back of the net in the 17th minute for what proved to be the game-winner. Junior keeper Colan Balkwell recorded three saves in his Saint Rose debut, while Nathan Mangione held off the Golden Knights by making all five of his stops throughout the second half.
 
SCOUTING SAINT ROSE (0-1-1): The Golden Knights are coming off of Saturday's 2-1 setback to visiting Daemen. Junior midfielder/forward Nick Iuorno put Saint Rose up 1-0 with 21:28 elapsed, but the Wildcats scored twice in the second half. Iuorno and freshman forward Kledis Capollari each have a goal for the Golden Knights, while Balkwell owns a 1.35 goals-against-average throughout 200 minutes between the posts.
 
SCOUTING SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS (0-0-1): The Spartans played to a 0-0 (2OT) draw last Thursday at Bloomsburg. Senior keeper Nicholas Palumbo turned aside all 12 shots-on-goal to earn the shutout for the Spartans, who were outshot by a 19-17 margin in the season-opener for both teams.
 
UP NEXT: Saint Rose concludes its season-opening four game home stretch next Tuesday, September 16 when New Haven visits for the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference opener. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Spartans are back on the road this Saturday with an 11:00 am date at East Stroudsburg.
