Box Score
SYRACUSE-The College of Saint Rose scored four runs in the third and never trailed en route to a 6-4 victory at
Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne this afternoon. In the process, the year-long
Upstate Challenge rivalry between the two schools concludes in a 7-7 draw after the Golden Knights baseball squad took two-of-three from the Dolphins this spring to earn the final point.
Junior third baseman
Lukas Nethaway and junior first baseman
Zac Bellinger both went 3-for-4 for the Golden Knights. Nethaway also homered, while sophomore left-hander
Joe Pokrentowski tossed 3.1 innings of one-hit, shutout ball in relief to pick up the win.
Freshman catcher Matt Buroni finished 2-for-4 and drove home a pair of runs for Le Moyne (17-21/10-9 NE-10).
Sophomore center fielder
Derek Reed got things going for Saint Rose by doubling down the left field line. Sophomore catcher
Patrick Griffin then scored on an error and Reed came across via an RBI base hit by senior right fielder
Scott Hladik to put the Golden Knights up 2-0. Bellinger and sophomore second baseman
Chad Adams then followed with back-to-back run scoring singles to make it 4-0.
Le Moyne scored a run in the second and added one in the third and another in the fifth, but Saint Rose countered with an unearned tally in the sixth. Nethaway then homered over the left field fence to lead off the ninth, before the Dolphins added a perfunctory single digit in the home half.
