ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose got the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth, but the visiting Owls held on for a 2-1 victory in
Northeast-10 Conference action today at
Bob Bellizzi Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. Junior catcher
Lukas Nethaway doubled to left center field with one out in the ninth to bring the winning run to the plate. He advanced to third on a groundout by junior second baseman
Ryan Hooker. However, the Golden Knights (13-24/9-11 NE-10) could not push Nethaway across home plate.
The Owls (19-13-1/13-7 NE-10) scored the first run of today's contest in the second thanks to an RBI double off the bat of junior left fielder Brandon Docimo. Saint Rose responded a half inning later with an RBI single from Hooker that scored freshman third baseman
Tyler Ungerland.
Southern Connecticut regained the lead in the ninth on a base-hit by senior right fielder Kyle Holland, scoring Docimo from second base. Holland went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Owls.
Both starting pitchers went the distance, but ultimately senior right-hander Rocco Cundari emerged victorious for his fifth win of the season. In 9.0 innings, he allowed one run, unearned, and struck out eight.

Ryan Harper put forth a solid effort this afternoon, surrendering two runs, one earned, to go with five strikeouts.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights and Owls will play a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 11:00 am. It is also Senior Day for Saint Rose. Senior outfielder
