ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose dropped both ends of today's Northeast-10 Conference crossover doubleheader versus Saint Anselm at Bob Bellizzi Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The Golden Knights fell 4-3 in the opener after scoring twice in the ninth before bringing the winning run to the plate, and then suffered a 4-1 setback in the finale after the Hawks (12-23/6-12 NE-10) broke open a 1-1 game by scoring a run in the eighth and two more in the ninth.

Sophomore right-hander Phillip Zdanowski was the tough-luck loser in the nightcap. Zdanowski allowed two runs on five hits and fanned 10, while walking two, throughout 7.2 innings of work. He retired 19 of 20 batters between the second and eighth innings and allowed only one runner to get into scoring position during that span.

The Golden Knights (11-19/7-6 NE-10) had outstanding chances in the fifth and seventh innings to break things open, but each time they left the bases loaded, which ultimately foreshadowed the game's outcome.

Senior right-fielder Brian Maynard had an RBI base hit in the fourth to account for the Saint Rose run, while freshman left fielder Alex Chandler went 3-for-4 with three base hits.

For Saint Anselm, freshman right-hander Joseph Levasseur allowed a run on seven hits throughout 6.1 innings of work while fellow freshman right-hander Cameron Latta surrendered a hit throughout the final 2.0 innings to pick up the save.

In the opener, the Hawks scored one in both the first and second innings, and two more in the fourth. Saint Rose senior second baseman Ryan Hooker then led off the seventh with a single and scored three batters later on a sacrifice fly by sophomore left fielder Chad Adams.

In the ninth, senior designated hitter Scott Hladik ripped a two-run homer over the left field fence, but Saint Anselm sophomore left-hander Tom Hudon recorded two outs around an error for the complete game victory. Hudon allowed three runs on five hits and fanned seven without issuing a walk to improve to 3-3 on the year.

Freshman left fielder MacNeill Finnegan finished 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while freshman second baseman Matthew Flynn had a two-run base hit to highlight the Hawks fourth.

Looking ahead, both squads have three-game NE-10 series this weekend. Saint Rose visits Pace University in Pleasantville, NY; while Saint Anselm travels to Waltham, MA to take on Bentley.
