FLORENCE, SC – The College of Saint Rose dropped both ends of a season-opening doubleheader at Francis Marion (SC) today. The Golden Knights (0-2) fell 18-1 in the opener and dropped the finale 12-0.
Freshman outfielder
Alex Chandler had a sacrifice fly in the sixth to account for the lone Saint Rose run in the first game. Freshman shortstop
Tyler Ungerland, sophomore center fielder
Derek Reed, and sophomore third baseman
Chad Adams each had a hit for the Golden Knights.
In the nightcap, sophomore left-hander Daniel Barfield tossed a no-hitter for the Patriots (4-1). Junior left-hander
Bryan Carr allowed one hit through 4.0 innings of work for Saint Rose.
Looking ahead, the series finale that was originally scheduled for tomorrow has been moved to Sunday due to impending poor weather. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm.
