Box Score
SPRINGFIELD, MA-The College of Saint Rose shot better than 50.0 percent from the floor for the ninth time this season and outrebounded host
Northeast-10 Conference rival American International by a plus-17 margin en route to an 82-73 victory tonight. In the process, the Golden Knights (11-10/8-7 NE-10) snapped a mild two-game skid.
Senior center
Dominykas Milka recorded his 17th "double-double" of the year to lead Saint Rose. Milka scored 23 of his 29 points in the second half and also hauled in 14 rebounds. Sophomore forward
Tyler Sayre finished with 22 points, nine boards, and three steals; while senior guard
Dan Mundweiler added 12 points.
The Golden Knights led wire-to-wire and used a 28-14 run midway through the second period to put the game away after the Yellow Jackets (9-13/6-9 NE-10) erased a 15 point, first half deficit to go in the locker room down five, 35-30, at intermission. Sayre finished in the paint to ignite the jaunt with 18:13 remaining and then sophomore forward
Chris Dorgler drained a jumper to make it a 10 point, 52-42, ballgame with 12:57 to go.
Saint Rose maintained a double-digit advantage the rest of the way, before the Yellow Jackets hit a pair of perfunctory free throws in the final 18 seconds that accounted for the final margin. A previous Milka three-point play afforded the Golden Knights their biggest advantage, 68-48, with 8:38 to play.
Senior guard Spencer Braithwaite and junior forward Marcus Porter led the way for American International. Braithwaite tossed in 24 points and passed out 10 assists, while Porter finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Janek Schmidkunz added 12 points.
Looking ahead, both teams have 3:30 pm conference dates this Saturday. The Golden Knights will host New Haven for their annual Coaches vs. Cancer game, while the Yellow Jackets will travel to Pleasantville, NY to take on Pace University. All receipts from the Saint Rose contest will be donated towards the fight against cancer. The game may also be seen live on
