Box Score

MANCHESTER, NH-A late rally by The College of Saint Rose fell just short in today's 80-75 setback at Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm. The Golden Knights bounced back from a 10 point deficit midway through the second half to afford themselves a chance to tie it at the end, but the Hawks were able to hold on and thus chalk up their third victory in the last four games.

Senior center Dominykas Milka recorded career-highs of 33 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Golden Knights (7-6/4-3 NE-10). Milka tossed in 21 points in the second half en route to his 11th "double-double" of the year. Also, sophomore forward Tyler Sayre and senior guard Dan Mundweiler added 16 and 10 points respectively.

Junior forward Chris Santo and junior guard Rob Mabrey tossed in 20 and 18 points respectively to pace four Hawks (8-4/6-2 NE-10) in double-figures scoring. Santo also pulled down five rebounds.

Sophomore forward Travis Gill scored inside to spark a 14-4 Saint Rose jaunt that erased a 10 point, 61-51; deficit and afforded the game its eighth and final tie, 65-65; with 4:54 to go after Sayre drained a jumper to cap it.

Sayre then put the Golden Knights up by one, 69-68, with another jumper two minutes later, before back-to-back buckets by Santo and senior guard Dino Mallios made it 72-69 Hawks with 1:55 showing on the clock.

The Golden Knights got back to within one on two subsequent occasions, the latter following a pair of Milka free throws. However, Saint Anselm senior guard John Nielsen answered with a trey to make it a two possession ballgame, 77-73, with 53 seconds left.

A Mundweiler jumper followed by a Santo free throw made it three-point affair, 78-75, with 10 ticks left. Freshman guard Isaiah Cosbert then could not get his 3-pointer to fall in the waning moments. Two perfunctory foul shots by Mallios at the other end accounted for the final margin.

Looking ahead, both squads have 7:30 pm conference dates this Wednesday, January 8. The Golden Knights return home to host Assumption for "Employee Night". All Saint Rose employees will be admitted free with an ID. The game may also be viewed live on www.gogoldenknights.tv. Meanwhile, Saint Anselm will travel to New Haven.
